Gilligan's Island (see link below)
Our landlord Pierre drove us 6 km to Playa de Carillo and left us to play in the waves. As we crossed the river-ette coming into town, there was a sign saying something like "Caution, crocodiles live here". Pierre pulled over to see them. He said if you tap on the bridge, they will come over and socialize. We didn't have to tap. There was a large croc lying there mostly submerged in the water. Pierre started tapping loudly on the metal bridge rail.!! Don't they say "let [peacefully half submerged crocodiles that maybe don't know you are there], lie"? Senor Cocodillo had that classic floating log look but with one eye showing and the distinctly chilling (my first chill in Costa Rica) shape of his long snout/mouth. I'm guessing 12-15 ft from nostril to tail. Pierre said the locals swim in this river. Whaaat?
We did some body surfing - especially Steve. He is such an ocean man! We bought some water and and un aquacate (Steve the avocado man said it looked like a good one), played in the surf for a couple of hours and then caught the bus to Samara. We're going to go looking for the spanish teacher named Leny today. Pase un buen dia, ya'll!!
The theme song for the day
